Established in 2017, HybridIRC emerged from the former WebChat IRC network, shortly after the passing of its founder, Mark Owen. Former WebChat staff members Berat and Gokturk launched HybridIRC to preserve open communication and provide a modern, stable, and community-driven alternative.
Built on InspIRCd and Atheme, HybridIRC supports IPv4/IPv6, TLS encryption, and Tor. Entirely volunteer-run and non-profit, it delivers seamless nickname/channel registration, web-based access, and cross-network linking via PyLink. HybridIRC is an always-active network with global communities and round-the-clock conversations.
