How do I change my account name?

If you want to change your account but want to keep your channel access, vHost, and other service settings, follow these steps:

Steps to change your account name

1. Identify to your current account: If you are not already identified to your main account, use:

/msg NickServ IDENTIFY currentnickname password

2. Change to your new nickname: Type the following command to switch to your desired nickname:

/nick newnick

3. Group your new nickname to your existing account: This ensures that your new nickname retains all settings and permissions:

/msg NickServ GROUP

4. Change your account name (if needed): If you want to update your actual account name to match your new nickname, use:

/msg NickServ SET ACCOUNTNAME newnick

5. (Optional) Remove an old or unwanted nickname: If you wish to permanently remove a nickname from your account, making it available for others to register:

/msg NickServ UNGROUP oldnickname
