Channel Registration

Welcome to HybridIRC's channel registration page! All users are welcome to register a channel of their choice. Registering a channel is completely FREE, but please note the following:

  • If no one is opped in the channel within 365 days, your channel will expire and drop. When this happens, all access lists are wiped, and the channel becomes available for anyone to register.
  • If the founder's nick drops, ownership will transfer to the designated successor. If no successor exists, the channel will drop.

Steps to Register a Channel

1. Register Your Nickname

To register a channel, you must first have a registered nickname. If you're not identified to NickServ, you cannot register a channel.

Instructions for registering a nickname can be found here: Nickname Registration

2. Check Channel Availability

Before registering, ensure the channel is not already taken.

To check, use the following command:

/msg ChanServ info <#channel>
  • If the channel is registered, this will provide you with information about it.
  • If the channel is unregistered, you’ll see a message like:
-ChanServ- Channel #example is not registered.

3. Create Your Channel

To create a channel, simply join it. If you are the first person to join the channel, you automatically create it.

Use the following command to join (and create) a channel:

/join <#channel>

> If the channel already exists, you’ll join other users in it. You will need to gain operator (op) status to register the channel.

4. Register Your Channel

Once you're on your registered nickname, register the channel with ChanServ.

Use the following command:

/msg ChanServ register <#channel>

💡 Miscellaneous: Adding a Services Bot to Your Channel

Adding a BotServ bot to your channel enables you to use various fantasy commands, such as: !op, !deop, !voice, !devoice, !kick, !ban, !kickban, !unban, !akick, !info.

These commands simplify channel management.

Steps to Add a BotServ Bot

  1. View Available Bots:
Use the following command to view a list of available bots:
   /msg BotServ botlist

  1. Assign a Bot to Your Channel:
After selecting a bot from the list, assign it to your channel using the following command:
   /msg BotServ ASSIGN <#channel> <botnick>

  * Replace <#channel> with your channel name (must be a channel you own).
  * Replace <botnick> with the name of the bot you selected.
