Established in 2017, HybridIRC has grown from a small private network into one of the worldโs top 5 IRC networks. We offer a modern, secure, and inclusive environment for global users, powered by InspIRCd and Atheme. HybridIRC supports IPv4/IPv6, TLS encryption, and Tor connectivity.
The network was founded following the shutdown of WebChat IRC, shortly after the passing of its founder, Mark Owen. Built by former WebChat staff members, HybridIRC was created to preserve the spirit of open communication and provide a stable, community-focused alternative. The name โHybridIRCโ was proposed by Berat and the domain secured by Gokturk, forming the foundation of what has become a thriving volunteer-run IRC network.
Run entirely by volunteers, HybridIRC is a non-profit network offering intuitive services like nickname and channel registration, a web-based client, and seamless cross-network connectivity via PyLink. Whether you're launching a new community or joining one, HybridIRC brings the best of IRC โ with heart.
