Nickname Registration

Welcome to HybridIRC's nickname registration page! Registering a nickname is completely FREE.

Registering your nickname ensures that no one else on the server can use it, regardless of the channel. To protect your nickname, you will choose a password. However, if your nickname is not used within a year, it will expire and drop. When this happens, any channel access or ownership associated with the nickname will also be lost or transferred to the first designated successor (if one exists).

Benefits of Nickname Registration

  • Protect your nickname from unauthorized use.
  • Save settings for channels and other services.
  • Send and receive offline messages or memos to/from registered users.
  • Upload an avatar via KiwiIRC to personalize your identity on the network.

---

Before Registering a Nickname

  • Choose a unique nickname that hasn’t been registered by anyone else.
  • Create a strong password that you can remember. Passwords can include letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Use a valid email address for verification.
 * Your email address will not be visible to other users.
 * Nicknames will expire after 365 days of inactivity.

---

Steps to Register a Nickname

1. Check Nickname Availability

Ensure the nickname is not already registered or in use. Use the following command to check:

/msg NickServ info <nickname>

---

2. Register Your Nickname

Issue the registration command:

/msg NickServ register <password> <e-mail>

---

3. Verify Your Email Address

Complete your registration by verifying your email. Follow the link sent to your email address from "HybridIRC Network Services."

> Note: Check your spam or junk folder if you don’t see the activation email in your inbox. Mark the email as "Not spam/junk" if it was incorrectly flagged.

If you don’t complete the verification process within 24 hours, your nickname will be automatically released and available for registration again.

---

Incorrect Email Address

If you entered the wrong email address during registration, you can cancel your registration and try again.

To cancel your registration, use the DROP command:

/msg NickServ drop <nickname> <password>

Example:

/msg NickServ drop Dave I3C00ki3SWch0co1aTe

---

Additional Notes

  • Your nickname will be temporarily registered after issuing the command. Registration is only finalized after email verification.
  • Please allow up to 15 minutes for the verification email to arrive. If you do not receive it, contact a server operator for assistance.
