Requesting a vHost

A vHost (virtual host) is used to mask your real IP address or hostname, providing you with greater privacy while using HybridIRC.

HybridIRC offers free custom vHosts for registered users, which are linked directly to your NickServ account. Once a vHost is set, it will automatically be activated and visible every time you successfully identify to your account on IRC. Your real IP address or the default server hostname will be replaced with your selected vHost, giving you a more private and personalized presence on the network. For enhanced security and privacy, the network automatically hashes your IP address or hostmask, ensuring that your true identity remains hidden.

When you set a vHost for your nickname, it becomes automatically tied to your NickServ account. Every time you authenticate with NickServ using your password, the vHost you selected will be activated, replacing your visible hostname with the custom vHost you've chosen. This provides a layer of privacy, masking your real identity while you use IRC, and it helps ensure that you're always recognized by the nickname you've registered.

If you wish to change your vHost or encounter any issues with it, you can always request a new one using the `/msg HostServ request` command. Just ensure that the vHost you request complies with our vHost guidelines and rules to prevent rejection.

Remember to carefully review the vHost rules before requesting one to make sure your request follows the requirements, and if you run into any problems, feel free to reach out for assistance.
