HybridIRC was founded in 2017 by a dedicated group of volunteers with a shared vision: to create a dynamic, secure, and reliable IRC network where communities could connect and thrive. After two years of development, HybridIRC officially launched in January 2019. Today, it stands as one of the most prominent IRC networks, known for its user-friendly features, robust services, and vibrant community.

We are a volunteer-driven organization offering free chat services to users worldwide. Our mission is to deliver top-quality communication solutions while fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment. Unlike corporate platforms, HybridIRC operates without profit motives, relying instead on the passion and expertise of its team and the support of its users and sponsors.

Powered by InspIRCd and Atheme, HybridIRC ensures a seamless and reliable experience. Our dedication to continuous improvement and user satisfaction has solidified our place among the top 10 IRC networks globally, as recognized by Netsplit.de and ircdriven.com.

In 2024, HybridIRC expanded its network by adding the server nexus.* to its infrastructure. This exciting update was part of our effort to support our growing community and make the network even better for everyone.

By introducing an additional server system, HybridIRC can now handle more users at once, reduce delays, and ensure smoother connections—even during busy times. This also means the network is better prepared for unexpected issues, making it more reliable than ever.

Adding another server isn’t just about technology—it’s about making sure our users have the best possible experience. It allows us to introduce new features, provide better support, and keep the network running efficiently as more people join.

HybridIRC began as a private network in mid-2017, designed to serve small user groups seeking a flexible IRC platform. Following positive feedback, it expanded to the public in early 2019.
